 Research

The Nogemag C.A.R.E. project has offered many different programmes since it began operating in the summer of 2002. In partnership with the Elsipogtog Band and Elsipogtog School and in cooperation with Justice Canada, HRDC, Crime Prevention and RBC, Nogemag has created innovative projects to help at-risk youth from the Elsipogtog community.

In partnership with Elsipogtog Band and Crime Prevention Canada, Nogemag is currently involved in the following research projects:

bulletLegal Professional Survey

Legal professionals across the Province of N.B. are being surveyed with regards to their current knowledge and understanding of FASD, whether or not they have worked with clients or witnesses diagnosed with or suspected of having FASD, and their self-identified needs around training in working with clients with FASD.

We are hoping to understand the needs of judges, crown lawyers, defense lawyers and those working in corrections and probation with regards to FASD and to develop programmes and strategies to meet those needs.

bulletDevelopment of Tools for Educators and Other Social Service Agencies

Developed while working with youth in the Elsipogtog School and on-site at the Nogemag alternative educational facility, tools are being developed and modified and re-modified as needed on the ground.  Many of these Tools are available in their working forms in our Tools Section.
